Following in Big Brother's Footsteps

I was getting ready the other day and I had Lexi in her saucer watching a show while I showered and stuff, just like I always do. This time she decided to take after her brother. This is how I found her:

We got Logan the Lego Star Wars video game a few weeks ago. He likes to play it and is getting pretty good. (Truth be told, Jon and I enjoy playing it, as well!) Lexi just can't wait until she can really play, too.

As soon as the game comes out, she races over and grabs one of the controllers and pushes the buttons, it's so cute. Except for when she accidentally joins the game and messes you up. Or when she won't let go of the controller so someone else can play. Okay, it's still cute. She also has an obession with the remote (she has changed the channel on me many times) and the phone (she somehow managed to call my mom at 6am one morning).

She also enjoys getting this out and making messes, just like Logan did. (The first 2 are Logan the 3rd is Lexi)
What can I say... she is definitely her brother's sister.

The Sweetest Sound

I was getting ready this morning and I heard one of the greatest sounds in the world. Logan and Lexi laughing hysterically at each other. It just warmed my heart and soul to hear my kids getting along so well. I know it won't always be like this, but I can always hope...

Ch Ch Ch Changes

I was a little bored with my hair - so I decided to make a change. Here are the before and after pictures...
I'm not sure what prompted me to get bangs, just something different, I guess. Jon's not too sure about them, but we both really like the color. Logan says he likes the color, as well. In case you can't really tell from the picture, it's dark brown with red and blonde highlights. Lexi just stared at me for a while, trying to decide if I was really mommy, or not. It's going to take a while to get used to - every time I walk by a mirror, I do a double-take!

Logan stuff

I'm not sure how we got on the subject, but Logan and I were talking about marriage a few days ago. About how when girls get married they change their last name to the boys name. And he asks me who he's going to marry? Lexi? So I explain to him that you don't marry someone that's in your family. He says: But you and daddy are both in my family. Okay... I explain that we weren't in the same family before we got married.
"Well, who am I going to marry?"
"I don't know. "
"Well, who's Lexi going to marry?"
"I don't know that either - it's going to be a very long time until either of you get married."
Then, Logan starts getting a sad face and says he doesn't ever want to get married. Then he starts getting sad and worried... "But I want to stay with you and daddy!" Then there's another explanation about how we're still going to be his mommy and daddy even after he's married. He's still pretty sure he doesn't ever want to get married.
Then, last night, we were coming home from somewhere, and I ran into the grocery store real quick to get something. After I was done, and we were headed home, I told Jon about the conversation Logan and I had, and Jon says: "Oh...so that's why he just told me that my name was Jon before I got married, and now it's still Jon." Jon was wondering where Logan pulled that from... I tell you - that kid remembers everything!

This morning Logan says out of the blue: "Mommy, am I allergic to dogs and that's why we don't have one?" First I had to laugh, because what 5-year-old knows what 'allergic' means? Then I had to very politely explain that we don't have a dog because mommy and daddy don't want a dog. Thankfully he let the subject drop.

Here's another picture of the sleeping kid. This was taken on Grammie and Papa's couch a few days before Christmas. There we no less than 5 people in the room talking, I'm sure we were pretty loud. He actually stayed asleep through all of the noise for quite awhile. Must be because he was covering his ears!

In other news, last Sunday we woke up to snow. On Monday it snowed twice. On Tuesday it snowed off and on all day. So, now it's snowed about 4 times more so far this winter than it usually does all winter long here. One morning, the roads were so icy, that Jon had to go about 2 miles per hour - seriously. He ended up being almost 30 mintues late to work, and that was after leaving earlier than he usually does! But, Logan had a blast playing in the snow and building snowmen and then kicking them down. So that makes it all worth it!

Mommy's Little Helper

Now that Lexi has realized she can get around, she gets around. Gone are the days of peacefully going about my chores while she watches her favorite show ('Yo, Gabba, Gabba' - it's a little weird for my taste, but Lexi loves it and Jon thinks it's cool because it was created by one of the Aquabats) in the family room. She now either follows me around or takes off into another part of my house. Here she is "helping" me put away the dishes.

Her favorite places to try to sneek away to are the bathroom and the stairs. I finally let her try to climb the stairs the other day, and she just went all of the way up without stumbing at all, like she'd been doing it for months! Now, she just loves going up the stairs and heads over all of the time. Ah, the joys of having a little one in the house...
