AI top ten

Hello, my name is Jamie, and I'm an American Idol addict.

At least this season.... Since pretty much day one, I have loved Brooke, Michael, Carly and David Archuleta. Each week, they've kinda of shuffled back and forth as to which one was my current favorite. A few times there were clear winners... Like David's 'Imagine' and Brooke's 'Let It Be'. I also enjoyed when Michael sang The Doors (even in Hollywood week) and I liked Carly's Beatles songs. Actually, I liked most of the Beatles songs performed by these four.

Two weeks ago David Cook sang 'Eleanor Rigby' and jumped into my top 5, out of nowhere.

Last night, Jon and I were busy, so we didn't start watching the show until around 10:30 (I love my DVR). Since is was late and we were both tired, I fast-forwarded pretty much everything except the singing and critiques. So, I didn't watch David's story or even know what song he was singing. When he started, I didn't know what song he was singing. (Remember - David A had just sang a song I've never heard, so it's quite possible I wouldn't know David C's song, either). About a minute into it, I'm like "What? Is he singing Michael Jackson?" Jon had no comment. (I wonder if he even knows any Michael Jackson songs.) I was a totally surprised, I just loved what David did with that song. It was definitely my favorite of the night, with Michael being a fairly close second. Then Brooke, Carly and David A. Even with that cheesy song, I still liked him better than the other 5.

Anyway, I'm just loving David Cook right now. Even though his hair bugs me (although, not as much as Jason's hair). Who are you loving?

March Madness (updates in red)

Just for fun Jon and I filled out the brackets for the men's NCAA basketball championship thing. Neither one of us really follow college hoops, but Jon knows some stuff. Mine were total and complete guesses. Like, for one of the conferences, I picked whichever team came first in alphabetical order. I really know nothing about it. Two of our final four picks were the same, and we both picked UNC to win the whole thing, so it should be interesting. After the first round, here are the standings.

Out of 32 games played, the # of wins correctly predicted:
Jon - 20
Jamie - 19

We've both already knocked out 5 teams in the next round. A little thing I found interesting: Jon correctly predicted all of the winners in the East. I correctly predicted all of the winners in the South. My strategy? I picked all of the teams that started with the letter M. If there was no M team, I picked the team that was last in alphabetical order. Good strategy, I know. Anyone else playing?
PS: I don't know who this is - just some college b-ball pic I found!

Movie Winner and AI

Thanks for playing everyone - that was fun. I held a drawing and the winner is Tim. Winner of what, you might ask.... I'm not sure yet. Since I don't live anywhere near anyone of you, cookies is out of the question. I'll have Jon think of something. If you haven't visited yet, check out Kim and Brian's site as they have a new set of quotes.

In other news, is everyone else as glad as I am that Amanda got voted off last night? I liked her at first, but her sound got real old real fast for me.

Movie Trivia

I just loved Sheri's movie quote quiz. And being the movie-freak that I am, I just had to do one, as well. So, Jon and I came up with some of our favorite movies and quotes. I decided to do one-liners to make things more difficult (or easier in some cases). I was going to wait a few days to post this, to give some down-time after Sheri's post, but Jon insisted I post it tonight. So here they are. The same rules apply. Please only make one guess per 24 hours so everyone gets a chance. Once they are guessed correctly, I'll highlight them with the name of the movie and who guessed it. Please don't cheat by googling/IMDBing the quotes. Have fun and good luck!

1. You look good wearing my future. Some Kind of Wonderful - Teresa

2. This is not my best day ever. Serenity - Marcy

3. There is no spoon. The Matrix - Becca

4. You can be my John G. Memento - Darrel

5. Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder. The Empire Strikes Back - Jack

6. Suddenly an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof. Moulin Rouge - Beth

7. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Kim

8. What the hell are you doing out here, Fred? Fred, if you’re real, you better tell me right now! I am Legend - Marcy

9. The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this earth. This was a two-parter. Laura guessed it was a LOTR movie and Tim knew it was Return of the King.

10. In punishment for lack of an interesting pirate name, Peter shall walk the plank. Finding Neverland - Brian

Oh What a Night

Great ready for a story. The night started by with me staying up late to pick up a friend from the airport. His plane was delayed, so by the time I got home and in bed, it was 1 am. No big deal - I don't have to work the next day - 5 or 6 hours is plenty of sleep.

But it was not to be.... The phone rang at 3 am. I answered it while half asleep. A man was on the other line and told me this weird story I didn't understand and I said, "What?" Now that I am more awake, I at least hear his story this time. He's with the county sheriff's office. He found a cordless phone handset at a street corner nearby and he thinks it's ours. Can I please tell him where I live so he can bring it to me?

Um - what? I said I didn't feel comfortable giving him that information. By this time, Jon was up and asking who was on the phone. He tells me not to say anything and just hang up. I turned on the light and looked at the caller ID. It had a wireless number listed. (What did I expect it to say - Police?) So, the guy started his story over again, saying he doesn't mean to frighten me. He's on patrol and found this phone so he drove around the neighborhood until he got a signal on the phone. He used the phone to call his cell phone and my number came up, so he really thinks it's my phone and he just wants to bring it back to me and he thinks I live on Dewberry. He then told me exactly where he was at and asked that I go look out my window to verify that he is indeed in a police car. He was being very polite this whole time.

So, I put the phone down, and head out to look out the window, but I'm just too chicken, so I make Jon go do it - he doesn't see anything. I suggest to him that we page our handsets to see if both of them are in the house, but, again, I'm too chicken to go downstairs, so I make him do it. We only hear one handset ring. I finally go back to the phone and tell the so-called cop we didn't see a car, and he says the phone he has just beeped. Meanwhile, Jon's still saying to not tell him anything, so I hand the phone over to him. Then I went to check the window. I see a car where he told me he would be, but it's too far away to tell if it's a cop car. I go back to tell Jon, but I guess the guy hung up or something.

The phone rings again and we debate whether or not to answer it. We don't, but the guy leaves a message. It states his name again and that he just wants to give us our phone back and he leaves his cell number to call him. Jon has gotten dressed by this point and heads back downstairs to try paging our handsets again. This whole thing just doesn't make sense. Especially at 3 am.

Then I remember... Earlier in the day, I was on the phone right before Jon and I left to go for a walk. I remember walking out of the house while still on the phone. After I hung up, I put the phone on the back bumper of our truck. Where I promptly forgot about it. It was still there when I left at midnight to go to the airport. So now I feel a lot better about the situation because I know how our phone found it's way to this other street. Although, I am surprised the phone stayed on the truck for as long as it did.

By this time, Jon has looked out the window again and he sees it is indeed a cop car and it's just a few houses down from us. He decides to go outside. Just then, the phone rings again. It's the cop. I tell him my husband is outside. They meet up and Jon gets the phone back. Jon must have apologized or something, because I hear the cop say he totally understands and he would have just left it on our porch, but he didn't know which house it belonged to. Poor guy was just trying to do something nice and Jon and I made it difficult for him because we thought we was some kind of freak stalker or something.

SO - we're all fine and we head off to bed. Too bad I can't fall asleep. My mind was just racing with all kinds of stuff. Then Lexi decides to wake up at 4 am. We try and try to get her to go back to sleep in her crib, but she will have none of it. Finally Jon takes her downstairs at 4:30 to sleep with her in our recliner. I try to go to sleep... the last time I looked at the clock it was almost 5 am. I got almost a good hour of sleep when Jon's alarm went off at 6 am. I went downstairs to wake him up and I go back to sleep with Lexi in the chair. Until she decides 6:30 is the perfect time to get up. All in all, I think I got about 3 hours of sleep. Needless to say, I'm a tired girl today.

What did I learn from all of this? Don't ever take the phone out of the house, and if you do, don't set it down on a vehicle. AND - There are still good people in the world.

Even at 3 am.

Babies

Yesterday Logan and I were having a lovely conversation about how he was my first baby and he'll always be special to me because of that. Then I mentioned that Lexi will always be special because she was my second baby. Then Logan says...

"Well, what about your 3rd baby and your last baby?"

What?!?!? Does this kid know something I don't know? I sure hope not, because there are no plans to have a 3rd baby and a last baby. We are done and happy with the 2 we already have.
