Car woes

Yes - this is my piece of @(#*$& car being offloaded into my driveway. It seems like we've some kind of trouble or another with this car since almost day one. Thank heaven we had Eli to work on it so much (and David, who traded services with Eli so the we didn't have to pay an arm and leg for the work). I was worried when we came up here, because we don't have anyone to work on the car anymore. We did pretty good for about a year.

One day, Jon was driving it to work and it stopped on the freeway. I didn't have time to go get it, as I had a job interview that morning. After the interview, I picked Jon up for his lunch hour and we went to get the car. We were surprised to see it up on a tow truck. Apparently, Idaho has some kind of abandoned vehicle policy - cars can't be unattended on the side of the freeway for more than 3 hrs. Luckily, we were able to have it towed directly to our house instead of the impound lot, or wherever they were going to take it. Jon replace the battery and all was well.

Until one morning after I dropped the kids off at daycare. When I got back in the car to go to work, it wouldn't start. So I went back inside to try to figure something out. I decided to walk home (just around the corner). Before I started walking, I tried the car again, and it worked. I promptly drove it home and traded it for the truck, which was luckily at home. I tried not to drive the car after that. A couple of weeks later, it did the same thing at the babysitter's house again. This time I couldn't get it started. Jon happened to have that day off of work, so he drove me to work and by the time he went to get the car, it started. It kept doing that for a while - it would work fine, then not start. But if we waited a few minutes, it would start just fine.

One day, Jon drove it to work, and it didn't start. Luckily, I work just down the street from him, so he took the truck. When he came back to get me, we tried the car again - no go. That was a Wednesday. The car didn't start on Thursday..... or Friday. Then David and Laura got here for their bi-annual visit. Saturday was a cold, rainy day. Jon and David went downtown to check the car - still wouldn't start. On the way back, something hits the windshield of the truck. Not a tiny rock or pebble that would make a small crack. Something bigger. Like a duck. Yeah, that's right - a duck flew into right into the middle of the windsheild and busted it all up.

I promptly made arrangements for the car to be towed home (again) and for someone to come fix the windsheild of the truck. All of this is before 9 am on a Saturday morning. What a day. We got the windshield fixed and David fixed the car and all is well. At least for the time being...

Lexi's new favorite thing

It was bound to happen.... Lexi is totally into the Teletubbies right now. We have one episode recorded that she watches over and over and over and over - well, you get it. Here's a little video of her watching the show. Watch what she does at the end.

Additional comments from Jon....

Lexi has never shown any interest in T.V., which is a good thing. So far she watches the occasional Baby Einstein video and had a short stint into Yo Gabba Gabba. She has recently taking a liking to Teletubbies which she refers to as "Tubbies" and gets upset if her "Tubbies" is not on. Is it just me or is the intro music to Teletubies very similar to the intro into X-Files? Those 4 things/aliens on that show are just plain weird. I don't remember watching anything but Sesame Street when I was that young. I do remember moving on the some of the cartoon greats like Heman, Transformers, Thundercats and Voltron. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?

Logan's Teeth and Lexi's Mouth

My poor kid! He gets all the weird stuff. The other day, he told me he had a loose tooth. When I went to check it out, I noticed this:
He has 2 new teeth growing in BEHIND his baby teeth! How weird is that? I was totally freaking out until my mom assured me that this is not a totally abnormal thing. I'm going to call the dentist this week to see what we should do....

It took me quite a few tries to get a clear picture of his teeth. Lexi watched the whole thing. Now everytime I point the camera at her, she does this:

No more smiles for me....just a big, open mouth! Speaking of Lexi.... I caught her trying really hard to put on a pair of Logan's underpants. So, naturally, we put them on for her. Then we let her run wild for a while...

First day of School

Today was Logan's first day of Kindergarten....sniff, sniff. There are 6 K classes at our school - crazy, isn't it? Logan is in one of the morning classes. I took the day off of work today so I could take him. The kids all lined up outside of the school and the parents had to say goodbye there - we weren't allowed to take them to their class. I guess that's smart and makes the separation easier. Unless you're my kid. He refused to get in line and then totally clung to me and wouldn't go in the school. I had Lexi in the stroller and I had a camera in one hand, and Logan holding on for dear life to my other hand. I had a little freak-out moment. Thankfully, the kids' babysitter was there (her daughter also started Kindergarten today), so she offered to stay with Lexi while I took Logan in. We got into the shcool and he saw his teacher and saw other kids going into the classroom and then he was fine - he didn't even say goodbye to me.

Here's Logan and Meygan (the girl next door)

In other, totally unrelated news, the new Harry Potter movie that was supposed to come out in November has been pushed back to next summer. Do you know what that means???? TWILIGHT IS NOW OPENING ON NOVEMBER 21ST!!!!! My day just got better - how about yours?
